Acclaimed actor Colman Domingo and his husband, producer Raúl Domingo, have listed their midcentury modern residence in Northeast Downey for $2,049,000 (approximately $2.05 million).

Domingo, who identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community and is married to Raúl Domingo, acquired the home after a six-month search following their move from New York to Los Angeles. The couple was immediately drawn to the pine tree-lined driveway and the home's untouched original features, including handcrafted woodwork and multiple fireplaces, which they preserved to honor its historical integrity. They modernized select elements, such as removing dated carpeting to expose polished concrete floors, while blending vintage accents, velvet furnishings, and meaningful artwork throughout.

A standout feature is the main bathroom, adorned with colorful tiles salvaged from the original Los Angeles International Airport terminals—a detail found in only three homes in Southern California. Domingo has described the outdoor space as "Big Bear meets Palm Springs," featuring a pine tree-lined driveway leading to an entertaining area ideal for dinner parties. The home's interiors reflect the couple's identities, with books by Gordon Parks and Kerry James Marshall on shelves, a framed image of James Baldwin in the office, and decor that celebrates freedom and individuality.

In prior features, Domingo shared insights into the home's personal significance. "There’s something everywhere that reminds you of where you are in history and who did it for you…everything you need to know about me is in my home—you just gotta look, you just gotta ask." He also noted upon first seeing the property, "I walked in and said, ‘Oh, this is our home.’" These elements underscore how the space serves as a sanctuary for the couple, intertwining their professional lives—Domingo's acclaimed career includes an Oscar nomination buzz—and personal journeys.

The listing, handled through undisclosed representatives, emphasizes the home's retro sunken bath, curated collection of art, and harmonious blend of midcentury architecture with contemporary touches. For LGBTQ+ individuals in entertainment, such properties often symbolize stability and self-expression amid high-profile careers, as seen in Domingo's role as a visible gay Black actor advocating for representation. The home's design philosophy—preserving history while infusing personal narrative—resonates within queer communities valuing spaces that honor heritage and individuality.

Photography from earlier tours, credited to Jenna Peffley for Architectural Digest, showcases the vibrant interiors and outdoor retreat, drawing attention in design and LGBTQ+ media circles. As of March 9, 2026, the property remains active on the market, attracting interest for its unique blend of architectural significance and celebrity provenance. This event highlights how public figures like Domingo curate living spaces that reflect their multifaceted lives, offering inspiration for queer homeowners seeking to merge personal history with modern living.
