Tilly Norwood, described as the world's first AI actor, released her debut music video 'Take the Lead' on March 10, 2026, just ahead of the Oscars weekend. The high-energy pop-musical-theatre track positions AI not as a threat but as a "creative superpower" for actors, flipping the narrative on industry resistance.

The video, available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7V2Biy3omw, draws inspiration from an essay by Eline van der Velden, Tilly's creator, real-life actor, and CEO of production company Particle6 and AI talent studio Xicoia. It reflects on the "extreme backlash" following Tilly's global debut last year, while emphasizing the humanity and creativity in her development, amid broader conversations sparked by stars like Matthew McConaughey and Ben Affleck.

Tilly's confident, cheeky persona shines through bold vocals and theatrical flair in the "unsingable" anthem, leveraging her AI nature—no need to breathe during demanding performances. The production used Suno for the music generation and Particle6's proprietary AI tools for the video, incorporating new 2026 techniques like performance capture where van der Velden acted out Tilly's role. A team of 18 humans filled roles including executive producer, director, production designer, costume designer, creative prompter, creative technologist, comedy writer, editor, production assistant, production coordinator, and actor.

This release previews the "Tillyverse," a cloud-based entertainment world where AI characters live, interact, and work, ahead of Tilly's official AI acting debut later in 2026. Particle6 positions the project as evidence of AI's rapid evolution, blending human craft with technology to push creative boundaries, as demonstrated since Tilly's initial launch.

Eline van der Velden stated: "Tilly is, and has always been, a vehicle to test the creative capabilities and boundaries of AI - not take anyone's job. As an actor myself, I have loved bringing Tilly alive for this video and feel that the ability to now use performance capture in this way, to fully inhabit an AI character, is a phenomenal way to bring an unknown actor like me closer to the craft." She added: "However, at the end of the day, even with brilliant new technology, it's still important to stress that great AI content isn't instant — it always takes good ideas, taste, direction, judgement and time. In other words: people remain at the heart of it."

The video arrives amid heightened industry scrutiny of AI, particularly as Hollywood prepares for the Oscars, where debates over technology's role in acting persist. 'Take the Lead' will also stream on Spotify, with Tilly active on Instagram and TikTok , and further details at Tillynorwood.com. While no direct LGBTQ+ community responses are documented in current coverage, the project's emphasis on inclusive creativity through AI tools could resonate in diverse entertainment spaces valuing innovation and representation. Additional images and performance capture footage are available via Google Drive link provided by Particle6.
