Melanie Martinez, the American singer-songwriter known for her conceptual albums, released her fourth studio album, "HADES" , on March 27, 2026, through Atlantic Records. This release serves as the first installment of a double album project, paired with an upcoming counterpart titled MM5, with "HADES" focusing primarily on dystopian themes.

The album comprises 18 tracks and became available today across various formats, including digital download, streaming, CD, LP, and cassette. Martinez announced the title and release date on February 1, 2026, via a video posted on her social media accounts, which included a snippet of a track titled "GARBAGE." Pre-orders for HADES opened on February 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM ET, allowing fans early access to the project.

Building anticipation, Martinez released three singles from the album. The lead single, "POSSESSION," dropped on January 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM ET, following an announcement and snippet shared on January 26, 2026. "Disney Princess" followed as the second single on February 25, 2026. The third single, "Uncanny Valley," was released alongside the full album today.

This project represents Martinez's first full-length album since 2023, continuing her signature style of narrative-focused music paired with visual world-building and symbolic imagery centered on darker themes. In messages to fans, she described HADES as exploring these elements, though specific plot details remain unrevealed ahead of the launch. The rollout follows a period where her social media and website were cleared, a tactic often used by Martinez to signal new eras in her discography.

Martinez's work has long resonated within LGBTQ+ communities for its bold exploration of identity, trauma, and femininity through surreal, doll-like aesthetics and storytelling. While specific community responses to HADES are emerging today given the release timing, her previous albums like "Cry Baby" and "Portals" have been celebrated by LGBTQ+ fans and media for affirming diverse experiences of self-expression and otherness. The dystopian lens of HADES may further amplify these themes, drawing parallels to queer narratives of marginalization and resilience, though direct statements from LGBTQ+ organizations on this release were not available in initial coverage. Additional singles, visuals, and potential tour announcements are anticipated as the project unfolds. Fans can stream HADES now on platforms like Spotify.
