Prenell Rousseau, 30, died after being struck by a westbound Long Island Rail Road train in Westbury, New York, at approximately 5:38 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Authorities reported that Rousseau was jogging on or near the tracks when the incident occurred, and they have ruled it an apparent accident with no indication of foul play.

Rousseau had a documented history connected to pop singer Billie Eilish, who has previously shared her journey regarding her sexuality and her support for the LGBTQ+ community. In May 2020, Eilish was granted a restraining order against him after he repeatedly appeared uninvited at her Los Angeles home, sat on the porch to read a book, and refused to leave. Court filings from that time described his behavior as erratic and persistent, visiting the property seven times in two days.

The LIRR train involved was traveling from Huntington toward Atlantic Terminal when it struck Rousseau east of the Westbury station. Officials confirmed the fatality to local media, noting the early hour and the victim's proximity to the tracks contributed to the tragedy. Approximately 100 passengers were on board at the time; no injuries were reported among passengers or crew, though the incident caused significant morning travel disruptions.

This incident revives discussions on the persistent threat of stalking faced by celebrities, particularly those with large, devoted fanbases like Eilish, whose music and persona resonate strongly within LGBTQ+ communities. Stalking cases in the entertainment industry have drawn increased scrutiny, as they often involve obsessive behavior that escalates over time. Eilish has previously spoken publicly about the emotional toll of such intrusions on her privacy and safety, themes that echo concerns among queer artists who navigate fame amid personal identity visibility.

LGBTQ+ media outlets have covered the story in the context of broader celebrity safety, noting Eilish's role as an affirming figure for transgender people and others in the community through her advocacy and lyrics addressing identity and acceptance. While no official statements from Eilish or her team have been released regarding Rousseau's death, the event highlights the long-term impacts of restraining orders and legal protections for public figures. Community discussions on platforms like Queer News Tonight emphasized the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ celebrities, who may experience heightened stalking risks due to their visibility in promoting inclusivity.

Local authorities in Nassau County, where Westbury is located, are conducting a standard investigation into the train incident, including reviewing surveillance footage and witness accounts. The LIRR has issued no service disruptions as a result. Reports conflict slightly on the exact date, with one outlet citing March 25, but primary local coverage confirms March 25.

Eilish, known for her chart-topping hits and outspoken support for LGBTQ+ rights, continues her career without public comment on this matter. The tragedy serves as a somber reminder of the boundaries between fandom and obsession, especially for artists who champion person-first language and affirmation for transgender people and queer identities.
