Elsinore, starring Andrew Scott as Scottish actor Ian Charleson, has been selected as the opening-night film of the 70th BFI London Film Festival. The film’s European premiere is scheduled for October 7, 2026, at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London. The festival will run from October 7 to October 18.
The opening-night selection places Elsinore at the centre of one of the United Kingdom’s major annual film events before its commercial release. The BFI said cast members are expected to attend the gala, although the complete festival programme and attendance details had not yet been announced as of the selection announcement.
