Miley Cyrus Frames Hollywood Bowl Shows as Possible Residency Test

Miley Cyrus has presented her upcoming Hollywood Bowl concerts as a possible test for a future residency, saying the shows could demonstrate whether audiences would travel to her rather than expecting her to undertake a traditional multi-city tour.
“I think you would have to do a residency of 80 shows at the Bowl to satisfy the level of demand,” radio host Zane Lowe told Cyrus during the interview, according to People.
Cyrus responded that such an arrangement reflected her own idea, calling the concerts “the ultimate dress rehearsal.” She also described the engagement as “proof of concept and potentially the beginning of something broader, but within your own terms.”
The remarks indicate interest in a residency-style model, but they do not amount to an announcement of a confirmed residency, a venue contract, or additional dates. As of September 18, the only newly announced Cyrus performances connected to the project are the two Hollywood Bowl shows scheduled for October.
The Hollywood Bowl Engagement
Cyrus is scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday, October 16, and Sunday, October 18, 2026. The concerts are billed as “Miley: Bass Persuades — Live at the Hollywood Bowl,” with Model/Actriz announced as the special guest.
Pollstar reported that the shows were announced to celebrate Cyrus’s 10th studio album, Bass Persuades, which is scheduled for release through Atlantic Records on September 18.
The performances represent a major return to a standalone concert setting for Cyrus. People reported that the engagement will be her first major performances since her appearance at the Corona Capital music festival in Mexico City in November 2022.
The Hollywood Bowl’s location is central to Cyrus’s stated rationale for the shows. She told Lowe that she selected the venue partly because it would allow her to return home quickly after performing.
“I chose to do the show at the Bowl because I knew that my bed was only going to be like a 10-minute drive home by 11,” Cyrus said, according to People.
She also spoke about maintaining a routine and treating the performances as part of an ordinary day rather than as the beginning of an extended period on the road.
Demand and the Residency Model
The residency discussion followed strong reported demand for the Hollywood Bowl dates. People reported that the presale queue was estimated to have reached nearly 1.5 million fans.
That figure was presented in coverage of the interview and has not been identified in the available reports as an independently audited count of unique prospective ticket buyers. It therefore describes the reported size of the queue rather than confirmed ticket sales or the number of people who ultimately attended the concerts.
Cyrus connected that demand with her view that a fixed-location engagement could be more compatible with her life and working preferences than a tour requiring repeated travel between cities.
“People will come to me. I don’t need to drive to you,” Cyrus said in the interview, according to People.
A residency generally involves an artist performing multiple shows in one venue or city over a defined period, reducing the travel associated with an arena or international tour. Cyrus’s comments specifically point toward that format, although they leave open the question of whether any future engagement would take place at the Hollywood Bowl, in Las Vegas, or elsewhere.
What Has—and Has Not—Been Announced
The current information supports a clear distinction between a planned concert engagement and a confirmed residency. Cyrus has announced two October performances, a new album, and a possible broader live-performance concept, but no schedule for an extended run has been published in the available reporting.
The available reports also do not establish that Cyrus has signed a residency agreement or selected a permanent venue. The number of future performances, ticketing arrangements, production plans, and dates—if a residency proceeds—remain unannounced.
For now, the Hollywood Bowl shows will serve as the immediate test of Cyrus’s return to major live performance. Her own description of the concerts as a “proof of concept” makes the possible residency an emerging plan rather than a completed announcement.
