Sharon Stone has said she has been celibate for “quite a while,” explaining that she is choosing to wait for a relationship built on genuine care and companionship.

Stone made the remarks during an appearance on actor and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik’s podcast, Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, in an episode published September 8, 2026.

The podcast’s episode listing identifies Stone as its guest and describes the conversation as including discussion of her dating life and her decision to practice celibacy.

During the conversation, Stone described herself as a good girlfriend but said she had not occupied that role for a long time.

She said she had experienced both positive and negative relationships, while making clear that her current priority is being with someone she genuinely cares about.

Stone’s comments were presented as a personal account of her current romantic and sexual choices, rather than as a statement about celibacy more broadly.

Seeking Companionship Rather Than Casual Sex

Stone said that she is looking for a companion rather than someone interested only in having sex with her.

She also said that casual sexual relationships had become uninteresting to her, according to reports summarizing the podcast conversation.

The distinction Stone drew was between sexual contact without the type of emotional connection she wants and a relationship centered on mutual care.

She said that her children are now grown and that this stage of her life has influenced what she wants from a future relationship.

Stone did not announce a new relationship or identify a prospective partner during the podcast appearance.

She also did not specify how long she had been celibate.

What Stone Said About Love

When discussing whether she had experienced the greatest love of her life, Stone said that she had had love in her life but did not believe she had yet experienced that particular relationship.

That comment placed her decision in the context of what she described as an ongoing search for a significant and emotionally meaningful partnership.

Stone’s remarks did not amount to a declaration that she had permanently rejected romance.

Instead, the reports describe her as saying that she wants to be selective about the kind of relationship she enters.

Her stated goal was not simply to avoid dating but to find someone with whom she feels a meaningful connection.

Earlier Comments About Dating

Stone has previously spoken publicly about frustration with dating and about preferring time with her children and friends.

Those earlier remarks came during a 2020 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, when Stone said she was “done dating” and criticized what she characterized as insincerity and games in romantic relationships.

The 2026 podcast comments differ in emphasis because Stone spoke specifically about celibacy and about wanting a companion rather than a casual sexual relationship.

Her latest comments therefore provide a more specific account of her current priorities than her earlier statements about being tired of dating.

The Podcast Conversation

The episode was promoted by Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown as a wide-ranging interview with Stone.

The program’s description also references Stone’s account of a near-death experience and her discussion of spirituality.

The celibacy discussion was one part of the episode rather than the episode’s sole subject.

People reported the remarks on September 10, two days after the episode’s publication.

Page Six separately reported that Stone described herself as having been without sex for an extended period and wanting a meaningful connection.

The original podcast listing and the independent reports agree on the central point: Stone said she has chosen celibacy while seeking a relationship based on emotional significance.

A Personal Choice, Not a Medical Claim

Stone’s comments concern her personal relationships and sexual boundaries.

She did not describe celibacy as a treatment, diagnosis or medical necessity.

She also did not attribute her decision to a specific health condition in the reported conversation.

The available reports support describing the decision as Stone’s stated preference at this point in her life.

Stone’s disclosure has attracted attention because it offers a direct account of a public figure setting boundaries around dating, sex and emotional intimacy.

The central message of her comments was that she would rather remain celibate than pursue a relationship that does not meet her expectations for care and companionship.
