Off Campus actors Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli denied rumors of an off-screen feud while attending the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on September 27.
She described sitting with Cameli in the green room as he scrolls on his phone and jokes about the rumors, telling her, “Remember when we did that?” before she replies, “That never happened.”
“It’s so funny. So, we’re just laughing about it,” Bright said, adding that “that’s all you can do.”
Cameli, speaking separately to Entertainment Tonight, also rejected the idea that the pair were at odds.
“I laugh every time I hear them,” Cameli said of the rumors, adding that he was “happy to put them to bed” because he and Bright are “extremely close.”
Cameli also called the conclusions people draw from the speculation “really entertaining, and sometimes fascinating,” according to E! News’ account of his remarks.
Bright joked that the Instagram activity behind the chatter could be explained by wanting “an aesthetic Instagram,” adding, “My bad. I’m so sorry!”
How the rumors began
Reports traced the speculation to fans noticing that photos of Bright had disappeared from Cameli’s Instagram grid, prompting conjecture online that the co-stars had fallen out.
Entertainment Weekly reported that fans noticed the pair had archived several Instagram photos featuring one another, while People described Cameli as having deleted a few photos that included Bright.
Those reports describe the trigger for the rumors, not evidence of a dispute; both actors’ statements at the VMAs directly rejected the claim of a falling-out.
Bright’s remark about her Instagram came in response to the speculation, but the coverage does not establish which specific posts she was referring to or provide a fuller explanation of the account changes.
Their working relationship
Bright and Cameli play Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, respectively, in the Prime Video series Off Campus.
Bright previously told People that she and Cameli became “very fast friends” after being cast and exchanging numbers at chemistry reads.
She said the two spent long days working together, sometimes 15 or 16 hours, and that she looked up to Cameli.
The pair’s joint attendance at the VMAs placed them together publicly as the rumors were being discussed, but the clearest evidence about their relationship in the coverage comes from their own comments rather than their appearance.
People also reported that Bright described the cast as “all best friends.”
The series and next season
Off Campus is a Prime Video adaptation centered on characters including Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, played by Bright and Cameli.
The show’s second season was filming in Vancouver over the summer, according to People.
People reported that the next installment is set to focus on the romance between Dean, played by Stephen Kalyn, and Allie, played by Mika Abdalla.
Cameli told People that returning to work on the series felt much the same despite the success of its first season, and said the cast and creative team were having conversations about the new season.
The first season is streaming on Prime Video, People reported.
The latest statements put the actors’ account of their relationship on record: they say they remain close, work together regularly, and view the feud speculation as something they laugh about.
