A new single with a familiar hook
The song arrived on Thursday, September 17, and is the second single from Sivan’s forthcoming fourth studio album, She’s the Best.
She’s the Best is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026.
The Madonna sample draws on “Music,” a song that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Reports identify Madonna and Mirwais Ahmadzaï among the writers associated with the sampled material, while Sivan and several collaborators are credited on the new track.
The borrowed refrain includes the line “Music makes the people come together, yeah,” connecting Sivan’s new song directly to one of Madonna’s best-known dance-pop hooks.
A medieval setting for a modern party
The accompanying video was directed by Gordon von Steiner, who has also worked with Sivan on earlier music videos.
Rather than placing the song in a conventional nightclub, the film uses a lavish medieval setting, with Sivan appearing in armor and riding through an English landscape before arriving at a celebration.
The production was filmed at a castle in Berkeley, England, according to reports published after the video’s release.
The visual combines period costumes, courtly imagery, dancing and a sensual feast, including scenes in which Sivan eats cake.
The video’s erotic tone is consistent with the song’s focus on a night of communal celebration and uninhibited pleasure, while its medieval imagery gives the track a theatrical visual frame.
Ian McKellen provides the opening narration
Sir Ian McKellen supplies the introductory voice-over for the video.
McKellen’s opening words establish the clip’s fantasy setting: “The conquest is nearly behind us. Fires blaze from one end of the realm to the other. And what is victory, if not celebrated? For at long last, a party.”
The actor previously worked with Sivan when Sivan was a teenager in a production of Waiting for Godot in Perth, Australia.
The pairing gives the video a link between Sivan’s early theatrical experience and the grand, storybook style of the new release.
The next phase of Sivan’s album campaign
“Party” follows the title track from She’s the Best, which was released with a video featuring Nicole Kidman.
The new release therefore expands the visual world introduced by the album campaign, moving from the earlier single’s celebrity-led presentation to a medieval fantasy built around Sivan, McKellen’s narration and a large-scale party scene.
The track’s collaborators include Luka Kloser, Elvira Anderfjärd, Tove Burman, Leland, Tyde Levi, Rob Feher and Styalz Fuego.
With Madonna’s sample at its center, the song places a contemporary queer pop artist in conversation with a dance-floor anthem associated with Madonna’s own club-oriented catalog.
The result is a release built around three clearly defined elements: a Madonna-derived musical hook, a cinematic period setting and a deliberately raunchy celebration in which cake becomes part of the visual language.
